The much-anticipated Season 2 of the musical adult cartoon Hazbin Hotel debuts on Prime Video this week, and fan speculation has been intense.
Season 1 introduces a diverse group of personalities living within Hell and Heaven, pits them against each other accompanied by musical numbers about their clashes, and establishes heated competitions and angsty, affectionate connections that drive audience devotion.
The fandom's stated hopes for the new season vary widely, but certain threads emerge over and over: Will a fan-favorite character break free from Valentino? Will we find out more about the binding agreement constraining the enigmatic Alastor? Will [favorite character] and [other character] finally get together?
"Obviously, I don't produce the show with audience demands specifically in mind," the creator commented recently. "However I feel like me being a fan of my own show implies there's a lot of it just inherently. I also am eager for these things, and I hope some of these things to occur, and obviously some of these things are meant to happen in the show!"
The creator says her long-term vision is for a five-season run of Hazbin Hotel. Future installments have received approval by the production companies, which produce the series.
That could imply fans have to be patient for some of the major resolutions — but they could be shocked at how quickly the new season moves, and how many of what they're anticipating happens now.
"I believe people are going to get a lot out of it," the creator notes. "There are several debut moments. I think we get some incredible reveals, some really cool backstories, and even basic elements, [like] I hope this character gets a song. […] We're going to hear much more singing from the previously silent cast members."
She's certainly aware of the guesses and hopes about the upcoming season — particularly in the format of fan bingo cards.
"I've seen a couple people make a prediction grid about the new season," she mentions. "Obviously I can't post it, but I've actually done a few items, and nearly every one of them have almost a bingo. I was like, Oh, if you put this [event] in this spot, it would be a bingo. So that makes me think we accomplish much [of what fans are waiting for in this season], because I was like, Oh, there's multiple potential bingos on this card. So that brings me joy."
Hazbin Hotel the second season launches on the streaming service on Oct. 29.
